We arrived back at the boat from Maryland on Friday, and spent all day yesterday provisioning for the trip south to Ft. Lauderdale. We expect to get there by Saturday.
Late yesterday afternoon we went over to the home of Bob and Ethyl Jacober, friends formerly with our Herrington Harbour Sailing Association (HHSA). After happy hour in their lovely home, we went to a wonderful Italian bistro.
This morning we woke up to a malfunctioning heating system. It was low tide and the heating system had been sucking in mud from the bottom of the marina. After much work by John by flushing out the lines, it began to work again. Tireless John then returned the rental car, stopping by to pick up one last item that we needed -- paper towels. We waited until almost high tide before we were able to leave, which was 11:30.
It is sunny and is in the 60's this afternoon, with the wind behind us - very pleasant. We had hoped to make it to St. Augustine, but with such a late start it is not looking good. This afternoon we saw some dolphins frolicking in the water, jumping and twisting in the air; it was quite a show. Lunch was BLTs with avocado - guess that's a BALT or a BLAT on bakery bread from Publix, along with Terra exotic vegetable chips. Tonight we'll eat on board - chile casserole - a yummy concoction baked with corn bread across the top.
Actually we did make it to St. Augustine, and we are on a mooring - arrived at 5:45 - right at sunset.
